The Piedmont Youth Symphony was (re)established in 2023 in the effort to offer an inclusive and diverse organization with exceptional music education and performances. As a renaissance of the former Fauquier Youth Orchestra, we endeavor to reach more youth by expanding the local radius of awareness, as well as opening the doors for winds, brass, and percussion instrumentalists.
The PYSO repertoire programming consists of varying different genres to expose the students to a multitude of styles including classical, contemporary, folk, and rock. Every concert has a different theme; from film scores, to royalty songs, to winter titled pieces, barn tunes, and more!
Rehearsing and performing in an ensemble teaches music students a different skill set than just practicing alone. Listening, watching, adapting, and feeling part of a bigger organization are just the beginning of the strengths that are developed within a group setting. We hope to build confidence in our music students!
